My wife once left a closed can of pop in the cup holder in her mother's car in winter. It froze, the water content expanded, and the can couldn't hold it. But it didn't just rupture at the intended opening. It *did* rupture there, shooting pop all over the ceiling of the car. But it also ruptured at the bottom in the same instant (glad she wasn't in the car at the time) with such violent pressure that it blew a hole through the cup holder into empty space. You could see the driveway.
