Protests can be fun. They can be uplifting and joyous BECAUSE being there is an act of solidarity with decent pro-democracy normalpeople, who can give you ideas and contacts with people and orgs that can help you feel less powerless. Things CAN get "spicy," yes, BUT they won't most places.
