FPGAs are really fun. And a bit magical too. I still feel the thrill of the milestones of developing Nemesis for MiSTer:
– First sound out of an AY-3-8910 from the Z80;
– The 68k CPU running a test program we wrote in assembly to debug the main board using a jerry-rigged GFX that could only display the contents of the palette RAM;
– The game actually running on said jerry-rigged GFX, playing the demo sound effects and displaying the same colour palette seen in the MAME debugger;
