My wife works as Mission Director, and once wore some captain's pips to work, which is fairly unobtrusive really. She broke tradition and picked a command gold blouse with that.
But of course a coworker saw her enter the control room like that, jumped up, and called out "Captain on the bridge!"
That world is full of Star Trek nerds.
