Sorry to hear. Happened to me more often than it should, can't remember the distro. Later I used #Avlinux for a long time for audio and video. Yabridge was pre installed and even bbc orchestra from stupid spitfire worked very well in Ardour.
Unfortunately the main developer of avlinux decided to furnish new versions exclusively with a desktop manager I don't like and / or am to stupid to handle (#enlightenment).
Maybe you can try it when you're tinker-moody?
