I am watching the BBC 1995 series on the collapse of Yugoslavia.
I try to be a reasonably well informed person, but honestly sorting out the ethnic groups and the causes of the conflict always confused me.
My friend married a Serbian woman, and she is also now a friend, but her view is one sided, and also assumes foreknowledge that I lack.
That said, having a friend from a country we bombed provides an interesting viewpoint.
