IME as a long-time Linux user, dealing with a certain amount of complexity is just the cost of doing business. Making computers "simple" requires MS/Apple-sized budgets and desktop Linux is still mostly a volunteer-run project.
The good news is that a) stuff you fix tends to stay fixed and b) it's easier than it used to be. On the whole, I find I spent less time* tweaking Linux than Windows or macOS.
