Stu (nprofile…988h) is right. It depends on your vehicle type whether or not you pay. But they're obviously going to increase the proportion of vehicles that pay ULEZ, as is true of any new tax. They're also doing this by expanding the areas where it applies.
Its purpose is to tax us and surveil us more under the guise of being 'environmentally friendly' and 'sustainable'.
The crazy thing is we already pay a congestion charge, which was partly justified cos of environmental concerns.
And the roads across London are in terrible condition, so it's so easy to damage your car. Plus speeding restrictions and other driving restrictions make it increasingly difficult to drive through London.
It's pretty clear there is a coordinated effort to make it harder to drive in London - and to extract tax and closely monitor those that do.
