It looks like the so-called bitcoin community is splitting, with people who failed to make a commercial success at bitcoin because they were too scared, or didn’t have any ideas all moving to Nostr; a place where there are no challenges to serve anyone and make a profit rather than stay in bitcoin and tread water forever, collecting likes on Twitter and other ephemeral nonsense that doesn’t change anything.

Meanwhile, a group of hard-core Bitcoiners is dedicated to spreading it all over the world are remaining behind, accumulating funding and building a generation of tools that will propel bitcoin to all the ends of the Earth; and they’re going to leverage all the thinking and all the tools that have been accumulated over the last 11 years to make the promise of bitcoin come true.

Meanwhile, the people are hiding away in Nostr, gushing about it, as if it’s going to be something that changes the world because it creates a space where people can misbehave without consequence we are going to be left behind to wallow in the ghetto they created which won’t feed a single mouth or have any effect on the things that are making the world a dangerous place.

You can talk until the cows come home about why nuclear weapons are bad or why Russia shouldn’t invade Ukraine, and you can say it in an unfettered way, but simply talking about things is far less likely to change those things than spending money to change them.

This is why bitcoin is more important than Noster and everybody who is in bitcoin who understands this is putting all effort into bitcoin, because that is the fundamental change that needs to happen, not Noster and not freedom of speech. Freedom of speech without money in a Fiat world is a sub optimal world; unfortunately, because money is so fundamental, people who have been brainwashed in government schools don’t have the wherewithal to attack this problem and solve it and prioritise it properly. That’s why they’re easily distracted, And Noster is one of those distractions. Its faddish and infantile.

And look at the clients; second rate dull imitations of Twitter with nothing new save the deluvery system. Is this the best people can come up with? Really? Things are much worse than anyone imagined.

And there’s nothing wrong with having hobbies; nothing wrong with building outside of bitcoin. There’s wrong with being a normal human being; part of the reason why bitcoin was written is so that people can be normal human beings, but every man has to work, and we are better off with everyone working towards the goal of making bitcoin ubiquitous, and if dividing your time between Noster and bitcoin means bitcoin gets less attention, that’s a bad thing, and remember; there are people who are not aligned with bitcoin’s aims who are now being given prominence in the so called “community”. Those people who are promoting polluting the chain of blocks and making everything slower because it’s “cool”. With those people being seduced by Noster, a power vacuum is developing.

The only way we’re going to get out of the problem is if it’s possible for a tiny fraction of men to cause the changes to happen, just like WhatsApp and Signal. If there are enough people to do it who can’t be distracted by things like Nostr and NFTs then we’re going to win. If not, then we don’t deserve to win and Larry Summers and those people will remain in charge indefinitely, and you deserve it, so don’t complain about it!
