"content": "Today i learned the difference between block storage (iSCSI, LUN) typically used on SAN vs file storage (NFS, SMB, AFS) typically used on NAS\n\nBlock storage based sharing is presented as a volume disk so the client will decide what file system it can be formatted (e.g NTFS/HFS/Ext4) and cannot be shared to multiple client in the same network without using specific clustered file system and another.\n\nMeanwhile, file storage based sharing is presented as file directory and client can only access it under specified file system that server has declare it (like NFS or SMB). Good thing is, since its decided by the server. It can be shared to many multiple client without having a discrepancy problem.\n\nhttps://reddit.com/r/netapp/comments/wyagx3/storage_efficiency_on_iscsi_luns_in_volumes/\n\nhttps://community.spiceworks.com/t/two-computers-one-iscsi-target/323809/5\nhttps://obj.misskey.id/media/9f012358-bb02-4f84-a853-639225ba82fb.webp\nhttps://obj.misskey.id/media/28e7041a-afd7-4861-b852-5e7967feb730.webp\n",
