Another method for generating entropy is from photons of light.

The Beam Splitter Method (Quantum Superposition)

This is the best for optical entropy. It exploits the quantum mechanical principle that a single photon hitting a 50/50 beam splitter has an exactly equal probability of being transmitted or reflected.

How it works: A light source (even a weak laser or LED) sends photons toward a beam splitter. Two detectors are placed at the output paths.

The Signal: If Detector A clicks, you record a 0; if Detector B clicks, you record a 1.

Why it’s random: The path each photon takes is not determined until it is measured. This creates a truly non-deterministic digital signal without needing complex analog-to-digital conversion.
