The IRS has the legal authority to force your employer to withhold wages, to garnish your paychecks, to take money out of your bank accounts, and even to confiscate and sell your property, to satisfy your tax debt.
*However,* and this is I think the key information, the NWTRCC estimates that the IRS is unlikely to do anything more than send you threatening letters as long as your total accumulated tax debt over the past ten years (the statue of limitations) is less than around $25,000. (5/11)
