it will create a second chain that is mostly the same as the spamchain. fransactions will work for any compliant sized witnesses in txs. bigger ones won't get into blocks. it will split. as soon as the other chain puts one in a block the two will separate. miners will have to decide. it isn't going to stop. once 50% of available hashpower goes to the bip110 it will be able to overtake and become the "best chain" this can happen within a year. and if it does, it will fork all the spam to the secondary spammy sidechain.

it is hard to explain exactly what that all means. i could draw pictures. it looks like how it sounds. two chains will be side by side, same transactions except spam only gets accepted by non bip110 nodes. the chain weight will be lower.

but it is important to note that until it deactivates there is no risk of lightning not working, from either chain. there is some issues i found with the deactivation in a year. but i think by then it will not be deactivated anyway. the high time preference idiots will blink first.
