Fragment of a 5,000-year-old bag, found in a bog in Ireland.
It was made by coiling long slivers of alder wood into spirals that were then bound together with lighter grass-like material.This would have made for a circular, purse-like bag, 40cm in diameter, with narrow opening at the top.
