I was also there the last time, when tech was much less integrated throughout the economy than it is now. Even tech companies that were profitable and well run got kicked in the face by undiscerning, panicky investors and it took years and shitty acquisitions to stabilize the ones that survived. It sucked, and there’s every indication that a real financial collapse in tech will cause a lot more pain and trouble.
