I was about to head to work but I stepped out and found my elderly neighbor sitting by their car asking for help. I rushed over and he was just sitting there because he had fallen but at some point got himself to sit upright. He seemed mostly ok, not bleeding or anything, but he said he had a stroke and his arthritis prevented him from pulling himself up, and that he'd been there for about 15 minutes. I helped him up and gave him my phone number in case something like that happened again, but now I am concerned if it was just unlucky that no one that was around for that long (it's a semi-densely packed suburb and there's often people out, but it was already getting dark outside and a little chilly) and that he may not have family there to notice and help him sooner. Anyway, I'm just glad I was there at the right time and that he now has someone to count on in such an event. Gonna let my roommate know too since we have opposite schedules.
