Honestly?
Bluesky is just easier. Thats why people are going there over Masto.
We could do a deep dive into feature comparisons and all that, but the bottom line is that most people do not care about features if they are not easy to use.
Mastodon has made little to no progress in terms of ease of use. It’s an app built for other developers, not everyday people.
Until that is addressed, we are going to continue to see people choose Threads/Bluesky over Masto despite the obvious problems around safety, privacy and moderation.
