I’ve walked away from many things that have not served me well. That includes drugs and alcohol.
After many years of destructive abuse of cocaine and alcohol, I got sober 9 years ago today.
9 years ago I took my last drink and worried that I was about to become a boring person and that my life would now become very dull.
In the past 9 years I wrote and produced 2 one man shows that I performed in NYC, I had an awakening that caused me to change my political beliefs, I created a viral video that was seen by millions, i created a political movement, I had a love affair with the media, then the media turned on me and my life became a media circus, I traveled the country dozens of times getting protested and chased by BLM and antifa, I met the president of the United States, I produced over a hundred events including marches and rallies and town halls all over the US, I got tied into one of the biggest political scandals in American history, I got FBI raided and sent to jail, I got sued… and WON, I’ve spoken on stage at the biggest political events in the country, and it just keeps going.
So, yeah. I probably shouldn’t have worried too much that life would be dull without drinking and clubbing.
Seriously though, if you know you have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol, you can stop. You really can. For so long I didn’t think I could. Now I can’t imagine going back.
