it's posed as "early access limitations", i mean obviously they get to put limits on what their infrastructure will process (no one likes spam), which wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't the central hub
the distribution in a federated network will always be somewhat lopsided. for comparison, here's the mastodon activity statistics for x0f.org :
the precise numbers are meaningless, but you can see that the most active server is about 3 times as active as the second
for bluesky it's *6 million* to *10* (restricted on purpose) for the next-up PDS🙂 their whole concept hinges on the promise that this will change some day
it's not entirely comparable but it reminds me of some "we'll decentralize later" altcoin concepts
