As Canadians, I think the most tragic thing, the thing that hits us right in the culture, is summer used to be a kind of collective celebration of surviving the winter.
Sunny relief after adversity.
And now, between runaway allergies, lethal heatwaves, and the forest fires, summers are turning into a seasonal gauntlet much worse (and less easily remedied by a toque and hot cocoa).
I am equally furious and exhausted.
