Yesterday I discovered that I am so deeply rooted in the F/LOSS, free culture, and IndieWeb movements that I could not give my 70-something parents a simple or concise explanation of why Facebook is horrible and we shouldn't spend any more time there. I tried starting on the privacy and data-harvesting angle and Dad said he had nothing to hide 🤷🏻♀️ Has anyone here had success with this kind of conversation, or have useful links? My dad bought me my first computer in 1986 and both parents were regularly participating in extended family group emails in the 1990s and 2000s, but now their whole generation is on Facebook and they aren't paying close attention to tech news.
