It's not actually a highly thought out ethical decision to say you want to block ads and get everything for free.
The ethical decision would be to avoid those sites with whom you do not feel any kind of win-win relationship.
(I suppose the size of the genuine, altruistic, ad-free web must be pretty large right now. And as with everything else, ever growing. I mean, look at us.)
