It's no secret the Adult Cartoon™️ mold is intentionally bad to both protect its creators from criticism and shield its audience from the risk of watching something with authenticity (if you create or consume something effortful, you risk being made fun of because sincerity is cringe).

So when one even slightly breaks that mold like Hazbin, the things it gets credit for doing well are just techniques aped from Japan; however, this is complicated by the fact "anime" kinda just means "good."

The good parts of other visual works will appear to be mimicking anime because it's the approximate best known form to stimulate the human brain. When we started figuring out which lines and facial structures to exaggerate and which to avoid to illustrate characters who were expressive and beautiful, we basically solved art--it's anime.
