Fukui prefecture goes to Takaichi with ~49%
With 20 out of 47 prefectures reporting in, Takaichi currently has 41.4% of the party member votes. After the final tallies are done, each candidate takes their total vote percentage worth of 295 points, then adds that to the number of Diet votes (295 seats). Whoever gets at least 296 wins the leadership race.
If nobody goes past 295 votes, it triggers a second round runoff between the two highest ranking candidates... in this case, Takaichi and Koizumi. This is what happened last time Takaichi went up against Shigeru Ishiba, but Ishiba won in round 2 (despite Takaichi's strong performance back then, too). Everybody in the Takaichi camp is hoping history doesn't repeat itself.
