71% of a country can support cease fire and be labeled as Putinistas and aggressively persecuted. 60% can recognize Climate Change as a serious threat & watch as some promises relating to this are walked back, a la Albanese in Australia. 82% can support a wealth tax and Janet Yellen can oppose it without it being a blip on anyone's radar.
It's called Ratchet politics.
Not sure why anyone is surprised by this.
