its shrimple !! they are prepackaged bubblewrapped applications that contain all the necessary dependencies , containerized . all u have to do is install the flatpak package , enable flathub (the biggest flatpak repo there js afaik) and use flatpak as a package manager for finding applications (or use a frontend like gnome software) . after installation u can run applications from whatever app menu u use , or from a terminal thru flatpak run
