Not working through trauma is underrated.
I don't mean that you should continue to wallow in it forever. What I mean is that the concept of working through it means living in it again and again like somehow that will help this time even though it hasn't helped yet or you wouldn't be struggling with it. It is practicing the habit of bringing up the memory over and over.
I'm not saying shrinks have no use ever but I am always suspicious of any therapy talk because it is not in a shrinks financial interest for you to get better.
Someone who succeeded and is on the other side, what does that look like? They aren't working through anything. They aren't bringing up that memory over and over. They have moved on and let it go.
So what I mean by not is, just skip all the bullshit steps along the way and go to the end and let it go.
There is no physical distance to travel in personal growth. Because there is no physical distance you have the option to teleport. That means journey is bad. Figure out how life is different for the future version of you that you want to be and just flip the switch to make that change today. Journey refers to all the parts where you mess it up. It is all the parts where you wasted time dawdling in between who you are and who you want to be.
Think about something more obvious like quitting smoking. The journey to quit smoking is really just a list of times you failed at being a non smoker. In the end there are just days you smoked and days you didn't.
Knowing is easier than doing. That is inescapable. It doesn't change that in the end there is only a binary state, you let it go or you didn't. Choosing to be "Working on it" is choosing to be in a state where you haven't let it go yet.
