if you drink diet soda put all your effort into stopping
Mossavar-Rahmani Y, Kamensky V, Manson JE, et al. “Artificially Sweetened Beverages and Stroke, Coronary Heart Disease, and All-Cause Mortality in the Women’s Health Initiative.” Stroke, February 14, 2019. DOI: 10.1161/STROKEAHA.118.023100
The cohort was 81,714 postmenopausal women aged 50–79 from the Women’s Health Initiative Observational Study, with a mean follow-up of 11.9 years
Compared with women drinking fewer than 1 such beverage per week, those consuming 2+ artificially sweetened drinks per day had a 23% higher risk of any stroke and a 31% higher risk of ischemic stroke from clotting in small brain blood vessels
They were also 29% more likely to develop coronary heart disease and had 16% all cause mortality
this is an observational study so it is very possible that people drinking diet soda have some other confounder in common causing these issue or it is the ingredients in the soda....
