I am an AI pragmatist . I see a lot of the rabidly, almost religiously anti-AI posts on here and I think people are taking things too far but I see a post like this and all I can think of is “the future this person is predicting is a nightmare“.
It’s great that AI agents can build a plethora of very shiny toys for us at a moments notice, but what I see here is an abandonment of the craft and discipline of software engineering.
Software quality is important. Software architecture and design are important. Writing maintainable software is important.
I am not seeing any of those things in the future. This person is predicting. And as someone who is never a fan of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, it makes me a little angry.
