If you live in the US, you probably expect to rely on Medicare for healthcare coverage at age 65.
If so, hopefully you aware that the grabbing hands of private healthcare profiteers' have succeeded in controlling over half of Medicare plans, called Medicare Advantage.
If you still believe that Medicare is a government safety net program that will help keep you secure in retirement, wake up. The profiteers have taken over, and it will get worse from here if we do not make our voices heard.
After similar posts I have made in the past, I received comments from folks who love their Medicare Advantage plans and that they chose MA due to cost.
Many cannot afford Traditional Medicare coverage, and that is part of the problem. Traditional Medicare costs taxpayers less than Medicare Advantage but Traditional Medicare premiums are higher. That creates perverse incentives for healthcare profiteers.
Studies show that Medicare Advantage costs the taxpayers up to $140 billion more per year than Traditional Medicare, while MA beneficiaries report receiving much higher claim denials and have significantly fewer choices among providers. Guess where those extra billions are going. Hint: It's not going to care for elderly Americans.
