I've thought about this issue a lot. The changing legal landscape, including in Canada def. poses a risk for relay operators. They are going to fall into the regulatory capture of laws passed with Facebook etc in mind. Its not much of an issues right now, but as Nostr grows, I see a lot of potential for claims and subpoenas to be directed at relay operators. Governments will want to subpoena IP addresses of users that relay operators capture.

One viewpoint may be that if there are multiple relay operators, it gives law enforcement more avenues of attack, to go after a relay operators in a jurisdiction that has a legal system that will force the operator to comply with gov. requests etcs.
