They hate you because Islam is a viking-like missionary religion. It has nothing to do with what you did or did not do. Search for "Dar al-Harb" and "Dar al-Islam". The best we can do is promote separation of church/mosque and state, so the religious texts won't convert into political actions.

Democratically elected government? When? A government that oppresses free-speach and throws women to prison for not covering their hair is not democratic in any way, it's a majority tyranny.

Latin America is a totally different story. I know very little about latin America so I won't comment on that - but it's a completely different fight. Don't confuse the two.
