I’ll tell you why Canada keeps the monarchy. We don’t want a president.
Both UK and US are colonizers, but the colonizer we’re most concerned about is the US.
And that’s not to say Canada itself is not a colonizer. But there are treaties, and treaties are with the Crown, which predates Confederation.
Considering Alberta separatism, which is funded by the US, this is not a small matter.
