I delayed for a few moments then gently asked if she gets paid a lot of money for doing this.

Taken aback, she asked me why I asked that.

I pressed. "How much do you get paid for doing this? Calling people and telling them things that aren't true."

I expected a hang-up but after a moment she very quietly said "£64". Don't know if that's true or not. Whether it's per day or week or per "success"... Or just any random number. I found it interesting that the answer was in GBP.

Anyway I asked if it's worth it. I said "I know things are rough right now and you probably need the money, but is it worth it? Some of the people you're doing this to can't afford the consequences of it."

She went quiet again.

I gently advised her to think about it a bit, and left it at that.
