NYCE, PULSE, STAR are systems that share info between banks in the US. SWIFT facilitates international communication between banks, for secure transactions.
Historically, these have been very secure and we all depend on them. Attempts to hack them are made all the time but have not yet been successful
Were they to be compromised/shut down ATM, debit, and credit cards wouldn't work. Direct deposits could be effected and it could be very hard to get money from your accounts for some time. 1/2
