Iran has warned that a proposed agreement with the United States “will be completely cancelled” if Washington insists on linking access to more than $100 billion in frozen Iranian assets to additional nuclear concessions, according to Tasnim News Agency. Tehran reportedly rejects any such linkage.

Meanwhile, the White House has walked back earlier claims that a deal was “largely negotiated,” with senior U.S. officials now cautioning that the agreement could still collapse.

U.S. President Donald Trump also appeared to shift tone, moving from saying a deal could come “shortly” yesterday to emphasizing today that “time is on our side,” while insisting that the blockade and pressure campaign against Iran would remain fully in place. Tehran, however, continues to maintain that lifting the blockade is a prerequisite for any final agreement.
