I mean, IDK, sway + wayland is way better than anything with X11 for 98% of things (more seamless, fewer bugs, etc). Most FLOSS programs have also gained new features, putting them closer to proprietary programs (which have meanwhile enshittified, slurping up data and forcing people to store things in the cloud).
Yeah, some things have gotten worse, but Signal is way better (privacy/security wise) than what we had 10 years ago. darktable (npub1jta…8zna) has gotten better.
