I haven't had a lot of success with #gardening in the traditional sense: intentionally placing seeds or seedlings in a specific place with an anticipated outcome. So now I just let things grow. I check to see if any are invasive non-natives - those are ruthlessly uprooted and I keep an eye out for follow-on incursions. Otherwise, the plants just get to live their lives in peace. They seem to really like that.
Those white asters, by the way, are taller than me!
