i'd want to say why wouldn't there be a method of detecting malice in general, even if concealed, but that would fall under the lie category anyway

also, the first lesson of "people don't believe lies when they have to, it's because they don't want to" doesn't feel like it applies to me, since i feel like everyone likes to tell lies

it's just that i could never know for sure after the fact that it was a lie
