It was an awful thing. But it's strange to remember that when I walked that section of Hadrian's wall a few years ago, I took a nice photo of the Milecastle in the next valley, but walked right past the sycamore, ignoring it completely! I'd not seen the film or photos, and wasn't impressive coming down the path by the wall. Wish I'd realised then!
