not enough people talk about the reason religious people are afraid of vaccines is because they think a microchip will be embedded into their skin and they think they will be forced to buy and sell goods with the microchip which they think will lead to the end times because it matches the description of the mark of the beast. i'm not making this up i have been told this to my face by the pastor from my old church all the way back when i was a teenager and i know it was not just them who believed this. grifter right wingers just weaponized that fear to the most dangerous degree possible. not all religions probably believe this but the evangelicals i knew definitely did. it has always baffled me but it was a fear i shared too until i left that all behind and had to deprogram all that stuff from my brain. i'm not defending them or anything but it is crazy how a small inconsequential delusion can escalate things so quickly. it's like if flat earthers suddenly controlled the narrative of how the world works
