The electrons will go through the left hole and the calcium atoms will go through the right hole. Then they should converge in the centre of the ion trap. #physics
We weren't quite sure if the calcium vapour at ~300C would act as a gas or more like a "beam" of atoms which would condense on the first cold surface, so I've made a design that works for both. I'll probably add another metal barrier to stop the Ca getting onto the MCP diagnostic (will be where turquoise 3D printed plastic is).
