This is a discussion I had from my socialistish past 🤔
I do believe it is our human/*fill in religion* task to help people in need. -> this has evolved to there being basic needs that need to be fullfilled. I think this still holds true... to an extent in time.
Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless,... it is possible to do that for those that just have run into a stroke of bad luck. Just to get them back on their feet, not indefinetely in time!
So on a Bitcoin standard, this becomes the #Meshtadel : Any Meshtadelian (and I think we would agree that this means someone we would interact with on a semi-regular way even if this is digitally only on TG f.e.) would be willing to shelter another Meshtadellian in case of acute(!) need.
That is why a local Meshtadel is so important when bad luck strikes hard (loss of own house due to a fire f.e) AND wider into the world (stuck for a few days in a foreign place due to weather conditions f.e.) where the help would be shorter and more superficial (1 night on the couch or ground) but also hopped (7 hops to reach anyone in the world)
As a society (abstraction of social layer) you could decide to do the same as well: Have indeed some infrastructure in case of need, but that functions only in case of need.
Regretfully the entitlement of modern man just destroys these. There are f.e. emergency huts in the Alps (https://mountainsforeverybody.com/huts-and-shelters-in-the-alps) and it becomes more and more common that they are filled with waste that toursist leave behind 😡
Without that soical relationship -> no accountability -> no accountability -> self destruction of the system it applies to
UBI = absolute detraction of social relationship = dynamite belt around the waist
