Musical preference is relative to lots of things, especially the age of the listener. There's no doubt my ability to be moved by new music has faded away, it's like your skin gets thicker.
Aside from that, I have a hypothesis about the evolution of post WW2 culture and how it could be demonstrated objectively that over a 50-70 year period, yes, music WAS better in the olden days, but it is a big call and I need to get a 1 zillion dollar grant to study it and write a PhD thesis to prove it.
