In 1877-78, Daniel Boone and a number of his men were captured by Chief Blackfish. Under orders from the British, chief Blackfish had been preparing to attack Boonesborough. Daniel Boone learning of this while in custody, escaped and ran something like 150 miles in 4 or 5 days to make it back home and warn the settlers.
