YESSSSS! Figured it out. The 2.04 installer just didn't install Redir.exe. When I looked in autoexec.bat, it was calling to load redir, but it just wasn't there. So I copied it from the install floppy to the directory where autoexec was looking for it, and renamed it from redir.500 to redir.exe and BOOM 🎉
