Every time I walk around a city in the Portuguese countryside, especially one where the municipality invested in public parks and facilities recently, and I see how great the quality of life is compared to big cities, I reinforce my belief the single best thing governments could do for their country would be to pass laws making remote work mandatory for any worker who requests it, in positions where remote work is possible, including regulation preventing companies from screwing this up.
