The hardware doesn't change, is there really that much work to keep them alive? If a CVE gets found someone will patch it and most CVEs will not be in the drivers anyways so this is not an argument about security, is it?
And if something breaks there are people who can fix it in the linux mobile space for example and probably those working on custom ROMs (LineageOS?) too.
