After that detour, I could actually go and dig some potatoes. This was in the front of the garden where the soil is really bad. Big clay lumps and way too hard for potatoes, so tough it breaks your tool. But we had a lot of seed potatoes, so we put some there as well.

The ones that did germinate had low yield, significantly improving towards the back where the soil is a lot better.

Yield was 1.16 kg/m² for this small area, well below the national average, but I'm sure we'll do much better further back.

Some bonus steel came out too.

And unfortunately some tuber worms 😠
