When I was incarcerated, one of my buddies was an older guy who spent about half of his life in prison. Every time he got in and sobered up from cocaine, he’d be chill, immersed in prayer, only violent when he had to be. He’d talk about building up a farm and running a portable farmer’s market out of a truck.

Every time he gets out, he gets right back on the street, on drugs, etc. He couldn’t sober up for his kids, or his wife, or himself. Do y’all think he’s going to sell veggies out of a truck, or do you think he’s going to be back on cocaine within a week of getting out?

Incarceration doesn’t work.
